Office Building Suffers a Broken Water Main

Sometimes technique can save a client repair costs and inconvenience even as the flow of a typical business day goes on almost uninterrupted. This large administrative building in Marina Del Rey was flooded from an interior water line rupture. Our Applied Structural Drying technicians used portable wet vacs to suctioned up the standing water from the tile flooring. That was easy and quick. Moisture trapped within the wall cavities where the pipe burst can cause issues with electrical wiring and potential mold growth. We rigged shrouds with dehumidifiers to heat and increase the rate of evaporation and then capture the water molecules. The hidden danger of this moisture migrating through the wall to unaffected areas of the offices was real. We gutted the non-salvageable lower section of the drywall as shown in the After photo.
